Connelly Plumbing and Heating is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our team. This position will be responsible for purchasing HVAC, plumbing, and construction materials while making sure the products we receive meet our quality standards and project requirements.
The ideal candidate will organized, communicates well with suppliers, understands construction or HVAC materials, and takes pride in finding the right products at the right price without sacrificing quality.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase HVAC, plumbing, construction, and general job-site materials as needed.
Work closely with technicians, installers, project managers, and office staff to understand material needs.
Request and compare pricing, availability, lead times, and product specifications from suppliers.
Place purchase orders and coordinate material deliveries to ensure projects stay on schedule.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Inspect materials when received to verify.
Identify damaged, incorrect, or poor-quality materials and coordinate returns or replacements with suppliers.
Confirm that materials meet project requirements and company quality standards.
Track orders, deliveries, backorders, and returns.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, invoices, and documentation.
Monitor inventory levels and help prevent shortages or unnecessary overstock.
Look for opportunities to reduce material costs while maintaining quality and reliability.
Communicate any material delays, shortages, or quality concerns to the appropriate team members.
Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient purchasing and material-management process.
Qualifications
Previous purchasing, procurement, construction, HVAC, plumbing, or building-material experience preferred.
Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, construction materials, tools, and equipment is a strong plus.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify material quality issues.
Good communication and negotiation skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Comfortable comparing prices, specifications, and product options.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with technicians and project managers.
Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to prioritize multiple orders and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver's license preferred.
